In the process of working and supporting businesses in Lao Cai and Son La, we have noticed that the lives of many people, especially ethnic minority women, are still closely tied to nature. From agriculture to tourism development, nature has always been a valuable source of livelihood. However:
- Over-exploitation of resources: Deforestation, land use, the use of chemicals in agriculture, and construction activities have had a negative impact on the surrounding environment. This has resulted in barren land, depleted water sources, and the gradual disappearance of forests.
- Water pollution: Some farming models, such as fish farming, livestock raising, or waste discharge from agriculture, have polluted water sources, affecting public health and local ecosystems.
- Environmental imbalance: The harm done to nature has led to severe consequences such as flash floods, landslides, and crop failures, all of which impact the lives of local people.
- Outdated methods are no longer effective: Traditional farming and tourism practices can no longer help people improve their long-term income, especially as the market is changing rapidly.
The workshop is part of the IDAP project - “Strengthening the Inclusive Digital Transformation Ecosystem for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).” With the goal of supporting local businesses to develop a sustainable economy while protecting natural resources, we aim to help people discover new and more effective methods, ranging from technology applications to the rational use of resources and digital storytelling for products.
Main topics of the workshop:
- Sustainable development linked to environmental protection: How to rationally exploit natural resources, protect soil, forests, and water sources, and apply sustainable agricultural and tourism models to reduce negative impacts on the ecosystem.
- Communication on sustainable development in digital transformation: How businesses can communicate and use digital technology to promote sustainable production practices.
